Kolkata Paint Research Lab

A framework for publishing original, reproducible research about paint buying and surface-protection decisions in Kolkata.

Research integrity: this page contains methodology, not invented results. Findings are published only after the underlying observations/data are actually collected and documented.

Study A — Paint buying decision factors

Survey homeowners, painters and contractors about the factors they use when choosing paint: durability, washability, finish, coverage, warranty, brand, price and availability.

Output: anonymized sample size, methodology, questions, results and limitations.

Study B — Damp-wall problem patterns

Record documented cases by symptom, suspected moisture source, surface condition, repair approach and outcome. Avoid claiming causation unless the evidence supports it.

Output: symptom taxonomy and decision tree.

Study C — Paint system cost methodology

Compare complete systems rather than litre prices: preparation + putty/repair + primer + finish coats + specified accessories/application requirements.

Output: transparent calculator with date, assumptions and source for every input.

Study D — Kolkata climate/exposure guide

Compile authoritative climate/environment information and explain how humidity, rainfall, heat and exposure can affect coating decisions. Manufacturer product claims remain separate.

Study standard

  1. Define the question.
  2. Document the sample/data source.
  3. Record collection date.
  4. Separate observation from interpretation.
  5. Publish limitations.
  6. Do not turn a small local sample into a universal claim.

Evidence-first information

Use dedicated pages for products, brands, services, local information and technical guidance. Manufacturer-specific claims remain source-gated; customer reviews are treated as experience evidence rather than technical proof.
