From our manufacturing experience, acrylic putty performance depends entirely on film thickness. Apply in THIN coats (maximum 1-1.5mm per application) rather than one thick layer. Thick applications trap moisture internally, causing the putty to crack during drying and lose adhesion. Apply 2 thin coats, allowing each to dry completely and sanding between coats. For hairline cracks that keep reappearing, embed a fiberglass mesh tape into the first coat of putty while it is still wet — this creates a reinforcing bridge that prevents crack propagation. This technique alone prevents 90% of crack-through problems we see in Kolkata renovations.
