Asian Paints Metal Primer is a premium anti-corrosive primer specially formulated to protect ferrous and non-ferrous metals from rust and corrosion. Metal preparation accounts for 80% of the corrosion protection performance — the primer only contributes 20%. Even the best primer will fail if the metal surface is not properly prepared. For new metal: degrease with solvent, sand to SA 2.5 standard (near-white metal), and apply primer within 4 hours to prevent flash rusting. For old painted metal: remove all loose and flaking paint, sand to a sound surface, spot-prime any bare areas, then full-coat. In Kolkata's coastal-influenced climate, the salt content in air accelerates corrosion dramatically — always add an extra coat of primer on sea-facing and monsoon-exposed metal surfaces.
