Dampproof is specifically designed for moisture VAPOR control, not liquid water pressure. It is perfect for stopping dampness, efflorescence, and moisture staining on walls, but for areas with active water leakage or hydrostatic pressure (like below-grade basements or terrace cracks), upgrade to Raincoat or Sika Top Seal. A common pro tip: apply Dampproof on the INTERIOR side of an affected wall to stop moisture from reaching the paint, and apply Raincoat on the EXTERIOR side to stop water ingress. This dual-approach solves 95% of chronic dampness problems in Kolkata's old buildings.
